Question: Weedeater Screw 530016386

donnaw

Anybody have this screw come out of their Weedeater FL26 where it holds the gas tank on? I can't keep the scews in and keep loosing them. Somebody said use Locktight or something like that, but $2.49 per screw is pretty expensive.. is there a "generic" screw at the hardware store? What would the dimension etc be?

If you choose to use Loctite, Do NOT use the RED link removed the Blue. Otherwise, just wrap the screw (if you have it still) in some teflon tape a few times and reinstall it. The tape should hold it in place if the mounting area is not stripped too bad.

Relacement screws are ridiculoulsy priced from CERTAIN vendors. If you have ONE of the screws, (they basically are just self tapping) take it to a home improvement or hardware store and you will easily find a replacement. A regular old sheet metal self tapping screw will probably work. Most folks have several of those laying around in their toolboxes and on their workbench or shelves in their shop (garage) as they are the MOST common screw there is.
When I got the weed eater out this spring it would not start more like stay running. so checking thing out finding both fuel line are cracked at tanks.I have replaced the lines but think I may have done something wrong.
It will not run off choke. What line dose the filter go on top(closes to primer) or bottom?
The primer stays collapsed when pushed also. Also the return line how long is it to be?
Bottom tank like filter or just in tank?

Hi Nick,

It sounds like the carburetor is plugged and will need to be rebuilt. There is a carb rebuild kit available that should get your trimmer running again. It is part #WT-924-1, item #A17 on the parts diagram.

I hope this helps!

Question: Length Of Small Fuel Line

Steve D

I removed the small fuel line (thought it was a fuel return line) and cut off a bad piece. Now when I put it back in, it only goes in the tank about .25" and I cannot get the weedwacker to run. How long does the small line need to go into the tank?

Question: Misplaced Part

I took my weed eater apart to clean it. I did not see where one part went to. It is the Clip - Spring

I looked at the parts diagram and I can see where it goes, but not how do you put it in. Help?

Question: Which Line For Fuel Filter

Bruce

Which line does the fuel filter go on? The small diameter line or the larger diameter line? I can't figure out as the filter with a piece of line was at the bottom of the fuel tank.

The small line is the fuel line and the large one is the vent line.

Question: Will Run Only On Full Choke

Fred Palmer

I have a fl26 Weedeater plus, about 5 years old. It will start and run on full choke but as soon as I put it to half choke it quits. I have replaced the fuel filter in the tank and the air filter membrane but to no avail. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

I am just taking a stab at it but it sounds like the carb has a piece of grit blocking something. If it were me I would get a can compressed Carb Cleaner and give the carb a good blast, then carefully blow the carb out with air.

My other Line Trimmer is a Weed Eater but the same thing happened to it and the method I suggested worked on it.

Good luck.
Newbie here. I really did SEARCH for info on this - couldn't find snything.

FL26 weedwacker - Took it apart and cannot get the engine & housing to re-attach. Flex shaft will not go back into shaft. Knocked off the head end which was a mistake :)

It was working fine, no binding nor heating up.

Need to know how to repair/replace the flex shaft.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Question: FL26 Weedeater Plus Problem

I have a weedeater plus about 5 years old and it will start and run on full choke but as soon as I put it to half choke after leaving it run for a minute or so it quits , it will start right uyp again on full cdhoke but will not run on half choke or with open choke, I have replaced the fuel filter and the air cleaner pad and the fill-ai membrane but to no avail, would appreciate any help you can offer me. thank you link removed

Reply: FL26 Weedeater Plus Problem

UtahAV

Hi Potszer,

It sounds like a clogged carburetor to me. The carburetor can become clogged by dirt or other debris. The dirt may get by a damaged or missing air filter. It can enter through a crack in the fuel lines. Some tools use a foam air filter. Over time the filter itself will breakdown and create debris that will enter the carb and clog it. It is a good idea to replace the air filter at least once a year. If fuel is left sitting in an unused engine for more than a couple of months the fuel will begin to breakdown and go bad. As the fuel breaks down it will start to become gel like as well as begin to coat the internal parts of the carburetor with a varnish. The gel and varnish will plug the carburetor so that fuel can no longer flow through it. To get your engine running again you will need to either rebuild or replace the carburetor. When you replace the carburetor it is always a good idea to also replace the air and fuel filters. This helps ensure that more debris won't clog the new carburetor.

There is a carburetor rebuild kit available for your trimmer. It is part #545081808.

Rebuild the carb and your should be up and running again!

not to disaggree with the above poster but never overlook the simple things. start with the least invassive/expensive solution first. As a 15 year veteran of a dept of transportation highway repairs unit, I've seen my share of small engine failures. Our newer tools are forced to comply with ever stricter EPA guidelines and thus have become highly sensitive to the fuels and formulas that we use. make sure you empty out the old gas and start with fresh gas newly mixed to the proper ratio usually 50 to 1. I prefer a mix containing stabilizer if the tool is used infrequently. I've seen some tools run poorly on winter fuel as well if you have any choice use summer fuel and always regular. You may still need carbuerater work but I would eliminate the possibility of bad fuel first.

Reply: FL26 Weedeater Plus Problem

earthworm

3 things to alleviate problems
1 use the string trimmer (stored in a semi-conditioned area - this is important, IMO) in the winter time. They may be able to "sweep" snow from steps and walkways. I disagree with the idea of draining the old gas...simply use it...
2 If one cannot, or if this works not, add some alcohol and then drain this in the spring..
What is "stabilizer" anyway ?
3 Throw away the instructions and use these forums instead - they are much better
4 Use a synthetic 50 to 1 mix, rather than the old 40 to 1.
5 my problem is that it is impossible to refit the fuel filter. I will have to re-new the fuel line...there is nothing wrong with the "old" filter...it looks almost new.
And how on earth does a man install the plastic fuel line thru that little hole ?..
Does the new line swell to seal ?
And one must use the correct replacement ....
Thanks for reading this, and TIA
I don't see any replacement parts for the FL 26 Primer Bulb.

I would do a google search for (WALBRO WT-924-1) carb or a (WALBRO WT-669) carb.
The primer bulbs can be purchased at most Ace hardware, Home Depot, Lowes for like $2.00-$3.00. Ebay is not a bad place to seach for hard to find parts.
