I have 2 of the CS100's. My oldest one was getting short winded as to the battery life and I discharged it completely and recharged it. That seemed to help. Now the impeller has done the same thing everyone else has said. It disintegrated at the shaft. I have a good 3M - 40 second structural adhesive(4740) I am going to try, the trick will be to get the impeller perfectly centered and level on the shaft. Wish me luck. I am going to see about taking my other one apart and reinforce the shaft area on the impeller to prevent premature failure.
Bought this as factory rebuild over 10 years ago. Great size for my applications. But quickly the industry went to larger disk
sizes, hard to get 4.5" disks. Already replaced the pad once. This tool has gotten a good workout and always comes back for more. Until the disks fly off! Another new pad? Not this time. The cost would be the same as a newer 5" sander on ebay.
I am an older person and the 4235 has severed me faithfully for many years. I have repaired it twice, once for brushes and then a new switch(see question below). It is light weight efficient and easy to handle. The new ones are bulky, heavy and not friendly usable. If I could buy a new 4235 I would in a heartbeat!
Electrical cord too short, so is the vacuum hose. Very disappointed in the tool holder that connects to the electrical cord bracket Piece of junk!! Good thing I could use the one on my old vac that fit on the caster wheels otherwise this one would be going back to Wal-Mart
Ours lasted almost two years before the dreaded melted plastic pulley. Three weeks short of warranty expiration, we took it to B&D for service. (There were two other people in with the same problem.) The rep said they'd replace it, and that we'd have a new one within two weeks. To their credit, it arrived yesterday, just six days after we complained. We haven't opened it yet, so I don't know if the new one has the aluminum pulley shown in the illustration above. No credit to B&D for the cheap design, but they did a good job on the warranty service.
