This is an outstanding vacuum cleaner except for the poorly engineered on/off switch.
A flimsy extension is passed from the external on/off switch through the handle with a rocker knob on the end which engages the internal on/off switch, theoretically that is.
The problem is that there is insufficient internal structural pressure to keep the knob engaged with the internal on/off switch. I have tried several times to wedge this arm but to no avail. Guess I'll have to buy a new handle assembly.
This is the 2nd RY41002 that I have owned. I have a huge yard that I have to use my trimmer on about every 6 days 10 months out of the year. This is by far the best trimmer I have ever used, and I have been using trimmers of varying styles since the gas Sears Weedeaters of the 80's. This has the power of a gas w/o the vibration and noise. It just lays to waste anything I throw at it. My only complaint is that when I wore the last one out, I could not find a new one, I had to buy refurbished. I don't understand why they were discontinued. Love it!
I'm trying to get brushes for my bostitch # cap2060p... Can't believe this thing !!!
Beat the crap out of it through marathon uses, running full tilt for 15 to 18 hours a day for weeks & sometimes months at a time. Then last year it sputters and stops a few times before stopping for good. I say cool! Got my money out of that! Especially since it was bought on sale at Lowes; then I crack it open out of curiosity and behold, only the brushes worn away.
Bet it works fine again for along time after I replace them.
Oh, and most of all why this is a good bet, is because unlike the other little units. This pumps enough air to keep a quart gravity spraygun with a constant pressure. Most can't!
Have had my Ryobi RY30060B for 3 years bought as a refurbished unit. First problem was the starter-pull mechanism failed which Ryobi covered immediately under warranty. Since then it has performed flawlessly till the upper boom assembly had to be replaced. The unit continues to operate when called upon for the different duties it has for my garden. Aside from the grass trimmer, it has the hedge and chainsaw attachments. From the initial price paid, the unit has paid for itself 5 times over compared to more expensive products. It does pay to be mechanically adept in order to attempt fixing this Ryobi but it remains a tough little tool. Starts religiously after priming and a max of three pulls.
This is my 4th Shindaiwa string trimmer, because I wear one
completely out every 3 or 4 years. I have been using them
since 1995. They are the greatest trimmer there is. Some times I am using it steadily for more than 2 hours at a time
and my hands never tingle. We take really good care of ours.
My husband uses a T230x which is out of date now, but it is
still going. We have been having trouble finding replacement
parts for the heads around our town. Am hoping I can find some online.
