** If the Retainer Clip shears off in the drive shaft, use a small standard (Flat Head) screw driver and work the clip out from one side. Once enough of the clip is exposed, use a pair of needle nosed pliers and remove the clip. Replace it with a new one and get back to work!

2. Pried old retaining ears on the clip out of their grooves with two really small screwdrivers and pulled out the clip with needle nose pliers.
3. After seeing I could get the old part out and replace the broken clip I went to your site and ordered a new one.
4. The part came in the mail after only a couple days. Service was fast.
5. Put the new part in the shaft coupler and snapped it into place.
6. Put the spool of the string back on the trimmer and resumed trimming.
7. Easy, fast and cheap repair.
The retainer broke while I was running and I lost the spring and the retainer.
