Question: Part Found In Gas Tank

Eric

Replaced cracked primer button and cleaned, able to start machine, but when give it gas it dies...
I found this part inside the gas tank has two cotton like material tails and an opening that looks like it goes on a hose...not sure what it is or where it goes...any help appreciated.

Yeah I found the fuel filter in my gas tank and so have many other people....I guess it breaks off into the gas tank and then it won't run right. Mike.... The plastic thing it screws into is what snaps off, so you can't fix it.... you need no glue it on with a non-butyl base adhesive....

Hello,

After time the fuel lines will deteriorate and become brittle and break. In the case of this model, if you order the fuel tank, part number 308181003. You will receive new fuel lines, new filter and new cap.

Hope this helps,
-WJA

Question: How To Take Off Drum

Eddielynn Mattos

How do you take off the drum

Reply: How To Take Off Drum

Mark

Hi Eddielynn,

Removal of the clutch drum isn't too hard of a project at all if you know a few tricks first. The drum is held in place by a screw at the base of the hole on the end of the clutch drum. I believe your model of trimmer will require a Torx #T-25 driver to remove the screw but it could be a hex drive or Phillips as well. The screw will remove with a counter-clockwise rotation. When you try to rotate the screw the engine will likely rotate as well. Here is where a trick comes in. Remove the spark plug from the engine. Now find a piece of small rope, like an old shoe lace. Put the rope down in the hole for the spark plug. Be sure to leave enough of the rope hanging out of the hole so you can remove it later. The rope will bind up the piston so the engine can no longer rotate and now you can easily remove the clutch drum screw.

I hope this helps with your repair!

Question: Spark Arrestor

david

can you tell me where the spark arrestor is located? and is the ignition module and the spark
arrestor the same thing?

Reply: Spark Arrestor

Mark

Hi David,

The spark arrestor is part of the muffler. It is the small screen that covers the exhaust opening. The screen prevents sparks which could potentially create a fire from exiting the muffler. The spark arrestor is item #14 on page B of the parts breakdowns. The ignition module is the part which generates the electricity to produce a spark at the spark plug. It ignition module is item #27 on page B of the parts diagram. The spark arrestor is part #984753001 and the ignition coil is part #850080001. Both are available from http://ereplacementparts.com.

Good luck with your repair!

Question: Full Throttle Speed Cut Off

david

i can get the motor started and rough idle, but will cut off when i squeeze the trigger for max speed. i changed the spark plug
cleaned the starting system, but no luck.

Reply: Full Throttle Speed Cut Off

Mark

Hi David Sounds like the engine is starved for air. Check the air filter. If it is plugged with dirt and grass that may just be the problem. If the air filter seems OK then it is likely a carburetor issue. There are no carburetor rebuild parts for this trimmer so the carb will need to simply be replaced. It is part #985893001 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com. Good luck with your repair! -Mark

Question: Drum And Connecter

Keith

How do you remove the drum and connecter?

Reply: Drum And Connecter

Mark

Hi Keith,

The Clutch Drum is held in place by a screw located in the hole on the connector. I have seen phillips, hex or torx screws used. The drum I looked at had a Torx T-25 screw. You will turn the screw counter-clockwise to remove it. You will likely find that as you try to remove the screw the engine will want to rotate with the screw. You can stop the rotation by removing the spark plug and dropping a small length of rope, like an old shoe lace, into the hole. The rope will bind up the piston which will stop the rotation. Just be sure and leave enough of the string hanging out of the engine so you can remove it later.

Good luck with your repair!

I need to replace the ignition module, what is the easiest way to remove the starter housing and drum?

Question: Ryobi Ry30020a

Jorge perez

I have a ryobi trimmer ry30020a, while i was using it a lot of smoke came out from the spool at the end of the trimmer.
I found out that the housing (part number 099068001005) that contains the spool, melt at the base of it. I still do not know how it happened, it looks as if the nut inside (made out of metal) broke down, making the housing to loosen and at high velocity touching the shaft it melt the plastic.
I am having problems intaking the spool retainer out of the shaft, so can you please tell me how can i get it out ( before this it was very easy pushing down the spool an then turnin the spool retainer down and counterclock wise). And if i buy this parts here can i get them sent to mexico?
Thanks for your help
