How to Test a Small Engine for Spark
If your small engine isn't starting, you'll need to diagnose many issues including the spark plug. This video walks you through the steps of how to test for a spark using a spark tester.
Unfastened and removed old carburetor and linkage/fuel line and vacuum vent assembly from the block. Checked gaskets for wear. Installed new unit attaching accelerator linkage/fuel line and vacuum vent assembly fastening them securely. Pulled out old fuel strainer replacing it with the new strainer. Changed out old flexible blower tube unfastening the screw brackets on each end. pulling out the old tube, attaching the new by snapping it on each end and re-fastening the screw brackets. After all new parts were in place, tried starting the machine. Sprayed some SeaFoam in the spark plug hole after letting it evaporate for about a minute. Re-fastened the spark plug applied the choke for start up, pulled a couple of times and it barely started up. I had to adjust the rich/lean and idler screws for my operating environment (high humidity). After the repair it works like new.
