I am now on my 3rd dv18dl cordless lithium-ion drill. I use these quite a bit but was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issues I am having.
I'm not sure what went wrong with the 1st one and did not have time to slow down and figure it out so I just bought another one (drill only). The second one lasted about 3years and then the DC-Speed Control Switch went bad. I just happened across a guy that had been given one for a gift but he had no use for it so I purchased my 3rd drill. I've been running it for about a year & a half and now the switch on it is starting to give me problems. It works sometimes when you pull the trigger & then not the next - this is the same thing my 2nd drill was doing before it totally quit working. Is this a common problem for these drills?
I thought about switching to the Makita but that is a tough decision because I already have all of the other Hitachi cordless tools that go w/ the drill (circular saw, reciprocating saw, etc).
Any input would be appreciated. Thanx!

I am replacing the front cap part for a Hitachi DV18VoltDL hammer drill, specifically part #324-074. How does the old one come off? I have the screw, part #311-959, off but the cap does
not want to come off. Please advise. Thanks Ed

Dude i love this drill! It is light and VERY strong. it has tons of torque and hammers very well. I will definately buy another one.
