Question: Correct Battery Charger

mollyB

The only number I can find on the battery is PC18B. Is this (90550550-01) the correct charger for this battery?

Hello mollyB,

In answer to your question the part number, 90550550-01 is the correct charger for the PC18B battery pack.

Question: Battery Pack Stuck

Dan

I have a PC 18v cordless drill. Have used it for years with no problem. Now, the battery pack is stuck and I cannot remove it. It will move about 1/2 inch and then seems to get hung up on something.

Question: Direction Switch

Rob

The control switch for forward/reverse on my 18v drill has broken - can I get just the switch? I have already taken the machine apart - I know what I need - thanks

Hello Rob,

If it is just the switch fwd/rev actuator you need it is part number 90530641. If it is the actual switch assembly you need, the manufacture does not sell that item only. You would need to purchase the complete drill, less the chuck, battery and charger, part number 90542494. The later is a rather expensive part versus the price of a new drill.

Hope this helps,
WJA

Question: Reverse Button

Eric Easton

The tab on the reverse/forward button that inserts into a small lever on the motor of my cordless drill broke. Thankfully in forward. Can I get a new reverse button?

Question: Torque Adjuster

wayne sheets

The torque adjuster clutch is slipping and will not turn the chuck. The drill is only a few months old and the clutch in the torque adjuster won't hold.

While drilling an eighth inch hole in wood and backing out the chuck came out of the drill housing. Can I put the chuck back on or does it need to be sent back for repair or replacement? The drill is only 2 months old.

Question: Charger

Frank W Smith

My son just gave me a new pcl1805 cordless drill, and when I placed the battery in the charger, The green led light came on , then immediately went off. Each time I unplug the charger, and plug it in, the same thing happens. Is the charger bad? Or is there something I need to know?

Question: Chuck

Jim

how do I remove the chuck

Good luck with your repair!

so, i have the best luck ever... and it just so happens that when the forward/reverse switch on my drill breaks, it breaks in reverse. useless!

i had just purchased this used Porter-Cable set from a contractor friend because i my latest round of projects have been more demanding on the tools than the old 9V black&decker starter set could handle (i call the old one my "wussy girl toolkit")

i don't care so terribly much about fixing the switch at the moment; i just wanted to make it thru my Thanksgiving project list (a set of shelves, a coat rack, and a sewing table) before i find out what "Santa" is bringing me in December... and if there's NOT a nice new Porter-Cable box under the tree, then i can wait until January to make the decision of getting the drill serviced vs. coughing up the extra dough for a new drill (or quitting these complicated projects so that i can go back to using my wussy girl tools, they are a helluva lot cheaper!)

can anyone tell me how to open it up, switch the direction manually, and just leave it permanently in the forward direction? at least that gets me thru 90% of my projects.

If that wouldn't work, then when i order the switch as a replacement part, does it come with instructions on how to install it? i don't want to have to solder anything in, so if that's what it takes for a switch replacement, i would prefer to know *before* i purchase the switch. and i'm assuming that it's the switch - the slider button where i switch the drive direction just slides freely, doesn't completely fall out, but isn't catching on anything to affect the change of direction. if there's something else i should be calling that part, please correct me.

generally, i can do almost anything as long as it comes with instructions - i'm a big fan of Haynes and Chilton manuals when it comes to car repairs, but is there something similar for tools? just wondering.

thanks to anyone who has advice to offer on this subject. -Yancey
