is this a circuit breaker of some sort that won't reset itself?? is this a common problem on this machine? i already ordered a new machine,but i will repair this one if it is worth it,it's only a couple of years old. thank you!!

Hi mollyjoe,
There are Thermal breakers and thermal fuses. Most of the time on something like a small appliance they use thermal breakers.If the air flow is restricted to the motor the thermal breaker will shut off the motor before it get hot enough to do damage.I would guess that as long as you have no restrictions to the cooling of the motor ,that you just have a defective thermal breaker.
Replace it and if it happens again then you have a more serious problem then just a bad thermal protector.Hope this helps.Good luck.

My Hoover vacuum cleaner has a bad smell when I vacuum and smoke comes out of motor compartment. Can that be Thermoprotector or what? I opened motor compartment and can't seems to find anything burned.
Please, help.
