Question: Gear Drive

twyler

I had a bearing go bad in the gear drive. I replaced the entire unit and the brushes still dont spin to often. anyone have any thoughts on this. I am fairly disapointed in terms of quality of this unit and availability of parts!

Question: Brushes

the brushes only rotate at times. The clip in the middle does not fit in the hole without popping out. Will replacing the brushes take care of this?

Question: Hoover Model F7412-900

epreijers

Is this a belt driven or direct drive machine?
The brushes are NOT rotating and the mode switch, three settings, is not responding.Page C shows it. 41 but no description. I do want to do the repair myself. How about a video or manual.
Thanks.

I have the same problem. Its not belt driven as I have mine apart. The brushes actually just pop out from teh bottom. I cleaned my out and found out that there is one square prong that fits into a sqare hole that drives the brushes. Of course mine was stripped due to all the stuff caught in the brushes. I also opened the top to see why the brushes wouldnt kee turning under pressure. I found that my slider switch that adjusts between gentle and power scrub was bad. Its part number 10 on page C. You have to replace the entire cover to fix the switch. Hoover doesn't sell if from their web site either, but I did talk to them and confirm the part needed.

Well I've had two of these, and both the turbine and gear assy have gone bad. The first one had a bad bearing, and now this one has a gear with no teeth left.
