Replacing the Switch
1. Remove the top handle assembly
Remove the two screws from the top of the top handle assembly.
Remove the two screws from the back of the top handle assembly.
Remove the top handle assembly.
2. Remove the switch
Before you begin removing wires, take the time to draw a detailed diagram of where each wire goes.
Then remove the two motor wires--they are just tab connectors and you can easily pull them from the switch.
Remove the cord wires--these are held in place with two small, flat-head screws that you'll need to loosen.
Remove the old switch.
3. Install the new switch
Connect the wires to the new switch using your diagram.
Route the wires so they won't get pinched by the top handle assembly--the switch should have some small guides for the wires.
5. Attach the top handle
Now set the top handle back into place and tighten the screws to finalize the repair.
