Question: Ridgid OL50135W Low Output

1362246

The pressure on my tanks fill right up to 125lb fine. But the output gauge registers very low. When i blow out air from the hose it only goes for a few seconds then is out of air. I stop and the output gauge goes up to a few pounds again.
Do i need a REGULATOR or something else?
WJA
Hello 1362246,

It does sound like to me that the part number, 17468 Regulator may have a problem with it. If you try a new one I think your problem should be taken care of.

Question: Connectors

bramo

I need the connectors for both ends of the discharge copper tube. I've replace the tube and unable to use the connectors. The tube is
10mm inches.
WJA
Hello bramo,

As far as I can see the 23128 Discharge Tube, is connected to the 17358 Discharge T, item 28 on page B. And 17418 Non-Return Valve, item number 36 on page B.

WJA
Hello cobra99,

The Ridgid 23063 Screw is a metric screw, the size is M6X60.

Question: Un-Loader Valve

Thisguy

does this Pressure Switch have an "Un-Loader Valve (or dump valve) on the back side between the plug cord and the motor cord? is there a drawing or schematic of this pressure switch that I could look at?

I took the cover of of my pressure switch to see where the air leek is coming from. The air is pouring out of the small air tube on the back side, right between the two power cords whenever I shut the power off. but when the power is on the air leek stops. Do I need to just replace the entire pressure switch?
Hi This guy,
Air leaking out of the dump valve when the compressor is off indicates a bad foot valve. The foot valve or check valve is where the air is pumped in to the tank. When air is pumped into the tank a small spring loaded valve opens allowing air into the tank. Because it is a check valve air can only flow into the tank and not out of it.The dump valve line is also connected to the foot valve and is job is to allow pressure to bleed off the high pressure line and/or the cylinder head.If they didn't have this valve then when the pump started there would be pressure on the head making it hard to start the compressor.
When the compressor hits its limit pressure and the compressor shuts off you can hear a hiss. This is the cam in the pressure switch flipping over and striking the dump valve bleeding the pressure of the cylinder head and out put line.
Your problem is that the check valve in the tank is not sealing and keeping the air pressure in the tank so when the compressor reaches it limit pressure and shuts off the cam in the pressure switch hits the dump valve bleeding pressure of the cylinder head and high pressure line but because the check valve is not working the pressure in the tank moves through the dump valve line and leaks out of the pressure switch.
So what do you do? First look at the check and drain the air out of the tank.Next the check valve should have a threaded cap.Un thread the cap and there should be a small flat disc with a spring.Check to see if there is rust dirt preventing the seat from sealing. Also check to make sure that the spring is not broken. This should fix the problem if not replace the valve.Hope this helps .Good luck.

Question: "Un-Loader Valve" Ridg...

1234898

My compressor starts & runs but after the tank is fully charged and the Motor/Pump shuts off it starts leaking air from the area of the Pressure Switch. I spoke with a "Tech" who said I should check/replace the "Unloader Valve". He said it is a valve that releases the air pressure that remains in the Cylinder head after the Motor/Pump shuts off. I can't find anything in this drawing that shows an "Un-Loader Valve". Any suggestions?
WJA
Hello 1234898,

The part you are looking for, is part number 17353 Relief Valve. It is on page B of the parts diagram, item number 27.

-WJA
That is not the side of the machine that is leaking after the Motor/Pump shuts off...

Also I have checked that valve and even lubed it and the problem remains...

BTW, Item 1 pg A is a cover..
It's not the relief valve that leaks. the air leak is coming from the pressure switch.
I've been told that there are different models of this compressor, with & without an un-loader valve.
Can anyone point me at a drawing that shows this un-loader valve? Or any further comments..........
WJA
Hello Thisguy,

Take a look at the parts diagram on the Ridgid model number OL50135AL This should have the part you are looking for.

Question: SWITCH Ridged OL50135w

armando

LITTLE PIPE connected to the switch between power cord and cord to motor that little end the pipe is broken and the air is escaping someone know what is the name for that part
Hi armando,
Well every manufacture seems to have their own name for what's on their product but my understanding is that it would be called a "dump valve fitting". Hope that helps.Good luck.

Question: Pressure Control Knob

1120442

How does this thing come off?
WJA
Hello 1120442,

I spoke to Ridgid tech service, and they told me if it does not come off when you pull on it. Then it may be the style that has a label on it, that covers a screw that is holding it on to the regulator.

Hope that helps,
-WJA
Question: Regulator

dwilson

my compressor airs up fine but when it reaches the set pressure air starts coming from the regulator at a little hole. new regulator.
WJA
There should not be any air coming from the regulator, if there is it is probably time to replace it. There is one part on the compressor that when it gets to the desired pressure you will hear air coming out of and that is the safety valve 17378 I hope this will help.
WJA
The new regulator has an arrow on the bottom, and arrow should be pointing towards the tank regulator air gauge. I bought one used recently that had a new regulator but owner unable to get it to work, air coming out of the little hole on the neck of the regulator, it was installed backwards, arrow points in the direction of air flow towards the regulator gauge. As soon as I took apart & resealed all of it, worked perfectly.
Question: Compressor Humming

Rick

when I pull the switch to on position compressor only low hums. ran fine up until a week ago when it sounded as if it was a lawn mower sputtering then finally shut down. any help??
I have the same problem
Will it start when there is zero pressure in the tank?
