Hi Holly,
Thank you for your question. To remove the filter, press the dust bowl release button on the handle and remove the dust bowl. Then remove the filter from within the bowl. You can then wash the filter in warm water or replace it. Press the filter back into the bowl firmly to ensure it fits. Then replace the dust bowl by placing it back onto the handle until it clicks firmly into position. It is recommended to replace the filter every 6-9 months depending on usage. We hope this helps!
