Laminate Trimmer: Base Doesn't Lock Firmly

Is the base not locking firmly on your laminate trimmer? We suggest inspecting these parts for damage: the base, knob, nuts. lever, and support pin. Let us guide you through the repair process by providing digestible information on how you can fix your tool. Reference your owner's manual for instructions relating to your specific model.

Knobs
Knobs
If a knob is broken, or stripped, it will not be able to tighten up firmly. Remove all knobs by turning them counter clockwise, all of the way, to remove. Examine the threads and replace any that are stripped. At this point, check and replace any weak springs as well as replace any springs showing signs of wear. Remove any washers from the old knob assembly and install them on the new one. Install the new knob into the base.

If the support pin is stripped, it will not be able to lock the base firmly. To replace the support pin, remove the pin holding the lever in place. Remove the nut and washer on the opposite end and pull free of the base housing. Remove the washer and install it onto the new support pin then slide the new support pin back into the base housing. Install the washer and nut. Reinstall the lever and pin, holding the lever in place, by taping it in with a hammer.
