They might be toys, but it's important to remember that Power Wheels ride-on vehicles are also machines that require regular care and parts replacement.

Power Wheels Battery

A Power Wheels can keep going for years when it is cared for properly, and there's no better way to breathe new life into that little truck or Cadillac than by replacing its power source--the battery.

Replacing a Power Wheels battery is fast and easy for all vehicle models.

The most important step for replacing the battery in a Power Wheels vehicle is to find the correct battery for your vehicle model number.

Use our convenient search feature at the top of this page to find the right battery for your Power Wheels model, or visit our Power Wheels Parts page.

Steps to Replace a Power Wheels Battery

Accessing the battery area on each Power Wheels model may be just a little different, but the steps for this repair will be very similar for all models.

We demonstrate this repair on a Power Wheels Barbie Jeep.

1. Remove the battery wire clip.

The wire clip will pull right out of the battery with a little squeeze on the sides of the clip.

2. Remove the battery cover.

Now it's time to access the battery by removing the battery cover.

In the case of our Barbie Jeep, three Phillips screws must be unscrewed in order to remove the battery cover.

When removing the cover, make sure to pull the battery wire clip through the opening in the cover.

3. Remove the old battery.

With the cover out of the way, the old battery can be removed from the vehicle just by lifting it out of the machine.
