Finish Nailer Repair - Replacing the Driver Guide (Ridgid Part # 79004001022)
Tools & Materials
The plate is the table that the workpiece slides across as it is pulled through the planer. It is made of stainless steel and has a very smooth finish on it to reduce friction. After years of use, the plate can become warped, which can result in the planer no longer producing flat workpieces. A badly scratched plate can cause enough friction that the rollers might slip.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE PLATE 1. Raise the cutter head.
a. Use the crank handle to raise the planers cutter head to its highest position.
2. Remove the plate.
a. Remove the two screws securing the (left-hand) plate guide to the table.
b. Remove the (left) plate guide.
c. Remove the plate from the planer.
INSTALLING THE NEW PLATE
3. Install the plate.
a. Align the tabs on the new plate with the slots on the (right-hand) plate guide.
b. Install the new plate onto the planer.
c. Install the (left) plate guide.
d. Secure the plate guide with the two screws.
