Tools & Materials
The outer clamp is one of two flanges that secure the saw's blade. The outer clamp has a special shape that matches the saw's arbor, and it is the shape that prevents the flange from slipping and rotating on the arbor shaft. The blade flanges can wear down over time, causing the blade to wobble from side-to-side. If this occurs, you will need to replace the outer clamp.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE OUTER CLAMP 1. Unplug the saw.
a. Disconnect the saw from its power source.
2. Remove the outer clamp.
a. Retract the blade guard to expose the guard adjustment screw.
b. Remove the guard adjustment screw.
c. Pivot the guard assembly toward the rear of the saw to expose the clamp bolt.
d. Remove the clamp bolt (the bolt is reverse-threaded).
e. Remove the outer clamp.
INSTALLING THE NEW OUTER CLAMP
3. Install the outer clamp.
a. Install the new outer clamp onto the blade shaft.
b. Secure the outer clamp with the clamp bolt. (The bolt is reverse-threaded.)
REASSEMBLING THE UNIT
4. Reposition the guard.
a. Pivot the guard assembly toward the front of the saw.
b. Secure the guard assembly with the screw.
