How to Replace the Guide Blocks on a Jet Band Saw

The guide blocks work with the support bearings to support the blade as you cut. There are two guide blocks on each guide bracket (upper and lower). The blocks are made of a plastic material, and this enables the blocks to be adjusted close to the blade without damaging the blade as it contacts the blocks. Over time, the guide blocks will wear down (through normal use). The guide blocks can be resurfaced with a sander when they are nicked or grooved, but they will need to be replaced eventually.

REMOVING THE GUIDE BLOCKS   1. Remove the guide blocks.

a. Loosen the thumb screws (by hand) securing the guide blocks to the (upper and lower) guide brackets.

b. Slide the blocks out of the slots on both the top and bottom brackets.

INSTALLING THE NEW GUIDE BLOCKS

  2. Install the guide blocks.

a. Install the new guide blocks into the slots on both the top and bottom brackets.

b. Secure the new guide blocks by tightening the thumb screws.
