This is an authentic manufacturer sourced replacement cotter pin. It is a standard hardware commonly used on a variety of Craftsman lawn and garden equipment. Depending on the model of your equipment it will be used in different locations to secure two parts together. Please make sure to check appropriate diagrams for correct application for this part. This metal cotter pin is sold individually. It is best to use pliers to remove or install this part.

Steering rack stripped on one end

1. Removed steering column cover.
2. Removed steering column (one bolt / nut)
3. Removed bow tie clips from tie rod / spindle.
4. Removed 2 bolts holding rack assembly and pinon gear slides off of stub shaft when rack assembly is removed.
5. Unhook tie rods from rack.
6. Slide old rack out of guide.
7. Slide new rack into guide.
8.Reverse procedure to assemble.
Note: Since I had to grease the rack and pinion anyway, I applied some grease to the stub shaft to hold it in place while I put the rack / tie rod assembly back in place.

Worn skid plates, plate shave and missing shear pins

Removed all worn parts and replaced with new parts. Then I reinstalled missing shear pins and cotter pins

The deck lift arm suffered Owner maintenance neglect, so one day, while mowing, it fell off, got lost, and the front end of the deck dropped to low and started plowing dirt.

After I received the parts, one day a friend, younger than myself, came by as I was having a cup of coffee. I told him what I was looking to do and he took tools in hand and repaired the mower in 15 minutes. Never underestimate what an old man and a cup of coffee can accomplish.

Shear pin broke during last snow storm

Turned the blade to align the holes on the blade with the shaft, put the new shear pin in, placed the cotter pin, and there you go. It was fixed.

tear the whole front of snowblower apart replace augers put back together

Broken spindle pulley.

1. Removed deck from lawn tractor by taking off associated cotter pins.
2. Removed broken spindle pulley.
3. Replaced with new spindle pulley.
4. Replaced adjustment gear.
5. Replaced deck by inserting cotter pins into the associated connections.
