Idler pulley came off while I was mowing; after inspecting it I found the bearings had gone out. So I went to ereplacementparts.com and found all the components I would need to replace it.
1. I placed the mower on a ramp so I could easily get underneath it to work.
2. Dropped the mower deck all the way down to it's lowest position.
3. Installed the new pulley with Hex bolt, flat washers and Hex Flange nut. This only required the use of a 9/16 combination wrench and a 9/16 ratchet wrench.
4. Replaced the belt and the mower was back in operation.

Steering components worn. Nine years old.
Removing the old steering parts was no difficult. Getting some parts was a bit tight behind the engine. Had the tractor on jack stands so I could get under it. Downloaded the parts diagram and used it to reinstall the parts once they arrived. Centered the front wheels and steering wheel, tightened all parts and finished.

Steering failure on my Cub Cadet, and general clean up.
1. Removed lawn mower deck and jacked up the lawn tractor. Diagnose the source of the problem of the steering wanting to turn only one way. The Hex Flange bearing was slipping.
2. Found a illustrated parts breakdown of my make and model Cub Cadet.
3. Found the breakdown of the steering, compared it to the defective parts on the Cub Cadet and order the needed parts from eReplacementParts.com.
4. When parts were received I removed the Flange Lock Nut, 7/16-20 with the 7/16 socket and ratchet, pried off the Steering Pinion Gear, with a flat head screwdriver.
5. The worn part still wasn't accessible so I had to take loose the drag links (left and right hand) by taking loose the locking flanged nuts. using socket and ratchet set.
6. Had to remove the Steering Support Bracket (6 self tapping screws): tools 5/16 socket, ratchet, 6" extension.
7. Pulled bracket down off of the steering shaft, washer and worn hex flanged bearing now accessible. with the steering support bracket down I tighten or replaced any loose or worn parts. Checked the hex cutout in the support bracket for ware, was acceptable. Centered the steering wheel.
8. Placed the hex flanged bearing in placed, placed washer on steering shaft, hex bearing, bracket, another washer, pushing the steering bracket in place on the steering shaft, replaced the 6 self tapping screws, center steering gear on steering plate ( used stubby Phillip screwdriver ), replaced the pinion steering gear and self locking nut.
9. Align front wheels, Adjust and reinstall the drag links (left and right hand).
10. Ensure everything was tight, let lawn tractor down off jack, checked the steering, worked great. Installed mower deck.
