Replacing the Retaining Pin
1. Remove the roll pin
Place a metal pry bar underneath the anvil for support and use a hammer and punch to remove the roll pin.
2. Remove the retaining pin
Once the roll pin is removed, the retaining pin will also come out. The retaining pin includes the small spring and the pin itself.
3. Install new retaining pin
First insert the new spring followed by the new retaining pin into the anvil.
Before replacing the roll pin, hold the retaining pin inside the anvil against the spring using a pair of needle-nose pliers.
4. Replace the spring and roll pin
Set the roll pin in place and tap it back down with a hammer.
