Air compressors are similar in many ways to small engines. Both have a piston, piston rings, a cylinder, and valves. Just as a clean air filter is important to protect your lawn mower's engine, you must also maintain your air compressor's air filter to ensure a long pump life. The air filter removes dust, pain, or whatever else might be floating in the air, before it can enter the cylinder and cause damage.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE AIR FILTER ELEMENT 1. Remove the air filter element.
a. Remove the wingnut (and washer) securing the air filter cover to the air filter housing.
b. Remove the air filter cover.
c. Remove the air filter element from the filter assembly.
INSTALLING THE NEW AIR FILTER ELEMENT
2. Install the air filter element.
a. Install the new air filter element into the filter housing.
b. Install the air filter cover.
c. Secure the air filter cover with the wingnut (and washer).
