Your miter saw's fence is made up of three main components: the lower fence, and two upper fence extensions. The extensions provide additional support for tall work pieces (such as crown or baseboard molding). The extensions can also be adjusted side-to-side so that the blade can be tilted for bevel cuts. Most problems with the extension fences are the result of accidental damage (such as hitting them with a long board, or something falling on the saw).
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE FENCE 1. Unplug the saw.
a. Disconnect the saw from its power source.
2. Remove the fence.
a. Loosen the lock knob securing the fence extension to the lower fence.
b. Slide the fence extension away from the saw.
INSTALLING THE NEW FENCE
3. Install the fence.
a. Install the new fence extension onto the lower fence assembly.
b. Secure the fence with the lock knob.
