The shoe is the platform that rests on the work piece while using the saw. It is made of aluminum. Most problems with the shoe are the result of accidental damage. Dropping the saw can cause the shoe to bend or crack. A bent shoe can cause poor cut quality and might cause the saw to kick back.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE SHOE 1. Remove the shoe.
a. Remove the (8) screws securing the shoe to the bottom of the saw (there are four screws on each end).
b. Remove the shoe.
INSTALLING THE NEW SHOE
2. Install the shoe.
a. Install the new shoe and align the mounting holes.
b. Loosely install the four mounting screws on the front portion of the shoe.
c. Align the clamping plates with the top of the new shoe and loosely install the rear mounting screw.
d. Tighten one screw at each end of the shoe (front and rear) to align the shoe.
e. Tighten the remainder of the screws to secure the shoe to the saw.
