The air cleaner cover assembly consists of the air filter base, the choke-plate and lever, the air filter, and the air filter cover. The kit can be used to service tools with a broken choke, broken base, or a missing (or broken) cover. Most problems with the air filter cover are the result of accidental damage (such as dropping the tool) or damage caused by something falling on it.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
a. Remove the air cleaner cover.
b. Remove the air filter mounting screws.
c. Pull the air cleaner base away from the engine.
d. Separate the air cleaner base from the carburetor assembly.
e. Use long-nosed pliers to disconnect the breather tube from the air cleaner base.
INSTALLING THE NEW AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
2. Install the air cleaner assembly.
a. Install the mounting screws through the new air cleaner base.
b. Install the new air cleaner base onto the carburetor.
c. Install the carburetor gasket.
d. Secure the new air cleaner base and the carburetor to the isolator with the mounting screws.
e. Install breather tube to the air cleaner base.
f. Install the air cleaner cover.
