How to Replace the Air Filter Assembly on a Rolair Compressor

Air compressors are similar in many ways to small engines. Both have a piston, piston rings, a cylinder and valves. Just as a clean air filter is important to protect your lawn mower's engine, you must also maintain your air compressor's air filter to ensure a long pump life. The air filter removes dust, pain, or whatever else might be floating in the air, before it can enter the cylinder and cause damage. The filter assembly consists of the base, the element, and the air filter cover.

REMOVING THE AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY   1. Remove the air filter assembly.

a. Use a wrench to loosen the air filter assembly.

b. Remove the air filter assembly from the compressor.

INSTALLING THE NEW AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY

  2. Install the air filter assembly.

a. Thread the new air filter assembly onto the cylinder head.

b. Use a wrench to tighten (and secure) the air filter assembly.
