Water leaking from your cooler? You probably need a new drain assembly. The drain assembly allows you to drain the water from your cooler (caused by the melting ice). The drain assembly consists of a threaded spout, a grommet, and a drain nut (with a cap). The most common problem with the drain assembly is the lanyard (between the nut and cap) breaks. This often leads to a lost cap as well.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE DRAIN ASSEMBLY 1. Remove the drain assembly.
a. Unscrew the drain cap (using your fingers).
b. Push the drain spout and the grommet into the cooler (from the outside).
INSTALLING THE NEW DRAIN ASSEMBLY
2. Install the drain assembly.
a. Install the new grommet onto the new spout (the flange on the grommet should face the long portion of the spout).
b. Install the grommet and spout into the cooler (from the inside).
c. Install (and hand-tighten) the nut and cap assembly onto the spout (from the outside).
