The guard link attaches to the blade guard and is responsible for lifting the guard as the saw blade is lowered. Damage can occur to the guard link from normal use. The ends can be worn out where it connects to the guard, or where it connects to the saw. The guard link can also be bent, which will cause the guard to bind. If damage occurs to the guard link it will need to be replaced.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE GUARD LINK 1. Unplug the saw.
a. Disconnect the saw from its power source.
2. Remove the guard link.
a. Remove the two screws (and bushings) securing the guard link to the saw.
b. Remove the guard link from the saw.

3. Install the guard link.
a. Install the new guard link onto the saw (the slotted end should align with the front mounting hole on the guard).
b. Secure the guard link with the and screws (and bushings).
