The wrench holder is a rubber grommet that mounts to the base of the saw. The wrench is inserted into it and is held in place by friction. The holder might wear from regular use and fail to hold the wrench securely. Because it is rubber, it may harden over time and begin to crack. It can become so brittle that it eventually breaks off the saw.
This article provides step-by-step instructions for removing and installing the wrench holder grommet on a DeWALT chop saw (model D28715).
Let's talk chop. REMOVING THE WRENCH HOLDER [top] 1. Unplug the saw.
Disconnect power to the saw.
2. Remove the wrench holder.
