The wrench holder is a rubber grommet that mounts to the base of the saw. The wrench is inserted into it and is held in place by friction. The holder might wear from regular use and fail to hold the wrench securely. Because it is rubber, it may harden over time and begin to crack. It can become so brittle that it eventually breaks off the saw.

This article provides step-by-step instructions for removing and installing the wrench holder grommet on a DeWALT chop saw (model D28715).

Let's talk chop. The Fix   REMOVING THE WRENCH HOLDER [top] 1. Unplug the saw.

Disconnect power to the saw.

Unplug the saw       2. Remove the wrench holder.

Remove the wrench from the wrench holder grommet.

Use long-nosed pliers or a small screwdriver to pry the grommet out of the metal base.

Lightly lubricate the outside of the new grommet with oil.

Partially install the new grommet into the base of the saw.

Use a small screwdriver to seat the grommet within the metal base.

Slide the wrench into the new wrench holder.
