Tine holder not holding? It's time to face the fix. Whether you are a casual cultivator or a legendary landscaper, eReplacementParts.com provides the parts, procedures and facts you need to fearlessly fix what fails you.
The tine holder is part of the tine assembly on your tiller. It basically serves as a hub to which individual bolo tines are secured. The assembly attaches to the shafts on either side of the transmission.
The Super Bronco tiller contains two tine holders (one on each side of the transmission). This particular tine holder can be installed on either the left or the right side of the unit. The tines themselves, however, are specific to each side.
This article provides step-by-step instructions for removing and installing the tine holder on a Troy-Bilt Super Bronco tiller.
Let's get started. REMOVING THE TINE HOLDER [top] 1. Remove the tine assembly.
These steps are the same whether you are replacing tine holder on the left or right side of your tiller.
Remove the shear bolt securing the tine assembly to the tine shaft.
Remove the tine assembly from the tine shaft.
2. Remove the tines from the tine holder.
Remove the (4) nuts and bolts securing the (outer) tines to the tine holder.
Remove the four (outer) tines from the tine holder.
Remove the (4) nuts and bolts securing the (inner) tines to the tine holder.
Remove the four (inner) tines from the tine holder.
INSTALLING THE NEW TINE HOLDER [top] 3. Install the inner tines.
Note that the hole (for the shear bolt) is offset to one side of the tine holder. The side closest to the mounting hole is the inside portion of the tine holder. The tines should be installed with the outer bends facing the transmission (the inside of the tiller).
Install the four (inner) inner tines; aligning the mounting holes with the holes on the new tine holder.
Loosely install the mounting hardware (bolts and nuts).
Tighten the (4) bolts to secure the tines to the tine holder.
4. Install the outer tines.
Align TWO of the four (outer) tines with the mounting holes on (opposite sides of) the new tine holder.
Align the remaining TWO (outer) tines with the mounting holes on the tine holder. (These tines should sit flush on top of the previous two tines.)
Loosely install the mounting hardware (bolts and nuts).
Tighten the (4) bolts to secure the tines to the new tine holder.
REASSEMBLING THE UNIT [top] 5. Reinstall the tine assembly.
Install the tine holder (and tines) onto the tine shaft; aligning the hole on the shaft with the offset hole on the tine holder.
Thread the shear bolt through the tine shaft and the tine holder.
Tighten the nut (onto the shear bolt) to secure the tine assembly to the unit.
6. Repeat as necessary.
Repeat ALL of the above steps to replace the tine holder on the opposite side of the tiller (if necessary).
