Product Description ?

This is an authentic replacement part sourced from original manufacturer. It is commonly used on gas chainsaws. A centrifugal clutch is a part that uses centrifugal force to connect two concentric shafts, with the driving shaft nested inside the driven shaft. Today’s centrifugal clutches will function even when they shouldn’t, far beyond the point of when they need to be replaced. Keeping an eye on equipment performance will determine when the centrifugal clutch requires attention. This clutch is made out of metal and it is sold individually. Please note the clutch drum, spacer and washer are all sold separately.

To replace this item you would need a screwdriver and pliers.

    Craftsman saw parts
This picture for my item stated it was a saw clutch, all I saw in the posting was a clutch spring. So, I had to trust the written word was correct. So this was confusing when I made the order. I did receive exactly what I wanted.

    Difficulty

    Easy

    Time

    Less than 15 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, Adjustable Wrench, star screwdriver, sockets, thin rope, open end wrench.

I used a socket to loosen the bolts to take off the bar and chain. Then a star screwdriver to take off the cover to get to the spark plug . A socket to take out the plug. Then a small rope was inserted through the plug hole down in the cylinder so it would lock up when removing the old clutch. I used an open end wrench and a pair of vice grips to loosen the old clutch which has to be loosened by turning to the right. I put the new clutch in and tightened it by turning to the left. Took the rope out of the cylinder put the plug back in. Put the cover back on. Put the bar and chain back on. It ran perfectly.
