Poulan chainsaw automatic oiler not working due to nylon gear stripped on oil pump assembly.
I removed the spark plug and inserted a rope to lock the piston, then removed the clutch with the special clutch removal tool. Be sure to use a rope with no loose strands that can become stuck between the piston and cylinder wall. Remember the clutch is left-hand thread which means it loosens to the right. The trickiest part of the process is installation of the new coil spring gear onto the shaft using only screwdrivers, pliers, etc. I didn't have the special tool for this but would invest in one next time. Be sure the coils are equally spaced like they were before installation on the shaft. Replace the oil pump assembly and reconnect the pickup hose. Pretty easy and self explanatory installation once you remove the clutch.

Fuel lines had completely rotted away. Went ahead and ordered some maintenance parts before use. The saw is like new but has set for over twenty years.
Pulled carb, cleaned fuel tank, installed fuel filter, fresh gas and oil mix. Sharpened chain.

wouldnt pump oil on the chain of my saw
. Drained the chain bar oil from the saw. Removed clutch with new removal tool and help from the video.Removed and replaced oil pick up assy. as well as the pump. Hardest part is putting the pump spring drive on the shaft. Just keep working it slowly with a flat blade screwdriver Make sure the spacing is as close to possible to the spacing out of the bag it comes in. Reinstalled all as per video. Roughly an hour included refill of chain oil and cleaning the air cleaner.
Please note that the removal tool is necessary for the clutch which was cheap from you folks. It is reverse threads to remove it. The only way to keep the motor from turning while you try to loosen the clutch is remove spark plug, put about 8" to a foot of none fraying 1/4" rope down the plug hole and turn the clutch till the piston pushes its way onto the rope. That will hold the crank in place while you spin off the clutch. Disassembly and reassembly takes longer than the repair. Watch the video on ereplacement website. This was all done to a 24 year old Poulan 2050. Cost about $31 parts, tool and shipping. Still runs like brand new!!!

Oil pump gear teeth were stripped.
Remove top cover exposing spark plug wire and air filter. Removed bar nuts. Removed cover. Removed bar. Remove spark plug. Insert cord of wire and hand turn the piston to the down position. Insert cord further and turn the crank till the piston stops due to the cord in the combustion chamber. Use a screwdriver and a mallet and tap the clutch wheel in the counter clockwise direction to unscrew it from the shaft. Place clutch and washer to the side. Removed plate under the bar. Unscrewed the oil pump. Used pliers to pull the pump's hose from the elbow. Used compressor with a plug around nozzle to pressurize the oil reservoir and remove any blockage. Remove oil uptake hose and clean it. Replace coil on the shaft. Replace uptake hose. Replace oil pump and screw it in place. Attach flexible hose to elbow. Insert elbow in take up hose. Replace spark plug and spark plug wire and start engine without bar and chain to ensure oil pump is properly lubricating the top of the bar. Shut off engine. Block the piston again. Replace clutch wheel and washers as they were originally. Hand turn crank to release the cord or wire in the combustion chamber and remove it. Replace spark plug. Attach spark plug wire. Replace top cover. Replace bar and chain. Replace bar cover and bar nuts securing tightly. Start again and rev engine for 10 seconds and shut off. Check for proper lubrication.

Ereplacement sent me the part number I asked for. The problem is my owners manual wasn’t the proper manual for my chainsaw. It was my error in ordering.

    Finding the right stuff
I needed to find repair parts for my Poulan Pro 220, used gift from my buddy in 2017. I don't do much tree work , just when its required on a landscape install. The rental company, Topp Gunn does repairs for outside equipment , and are a rental group for me over the years in Austin. Great guys. So when they told me what was broken, I needed to find the parts myself, online. So on I went. From 1st search I went to your site, found diagram of saw ( exploded) and traced the location of clutch to numbered parts , assembly. Then went to customer service to order & confirm I had it right. Your techs are very well trained , and helped immensely. Parts arrived on time , saw was delivered to shop with, and next day picked up my repair. The coolest part of this outing is my connection for you to Top Gunn for all their outside repair parts needs. They had used you for the new sales products they sell inside , but not in this aspect. Nice.
