Makita angle drill Switch

Your power tool uses a basic toggle switch. After thousands of cycles and years of use, the switch will wear out. Testing for a bad on-off switch can be easily done using a multimeter.

Let's get started.

REMOVING THE SWITCH   1. Remove the upper half of the handle.

a. Remove the screws securing the upper half of the handle to the lower half.

b. Lift the upper half of the handle away from the drill.

  2. Remove the switch.

a. Note the location of the switch wires to simplify re-installation.

b. Remove the screws securing the two black wires to the bottom of the switch.

c. Remove the two black wires from the switch.

d. Insert a small pick into the "trap-door" slot beside each of the top (four) wires on the switch. This will release the trap-door connectors (and free the wires).

e. Disconnect and remove each of the top (four) wires from the switch.

f. Remove the switch from the drill.

INSTALLING THE NEW SWITCH

  3. Connect the switch wires.

a. Refer to your notes to ensure the correct wire configuration for your drill.

b. Install the white motor wire into the trap-door opening on the new switch.

c. Install the purple motor wire into the trap-door opening on the new switch.

d. Install the black motor wire (eyelet) onto the lower portion of the new switch.

e. Install the black cord wire (eyelet) onto the lower portion of the new switch.

f. Install the white wire (from the cord) into the trap-door opening on the new switch.

g. Install the peach wire (from the motor) into the trap-door opening on the new switch.

  4. Install the switch.

a. Install the switch assembly into the lower handle housing.

b. Tuck the switch and motor wires back into the openings on the handle housing.

REASSEMBLING THE UNIT

  5. Reinstall the upper half of the handle.

a. Install the upper half of handle.

b. Secure the upper half of the handle with the screws.
