The ash catcher assembly attaches to the bottom of your charcoal grill. It has an easy-to-empty pan that collects the ashes from your barbecue. It consists of a new pan and catcher ring. The most common problem with the ash catcher is accidental damage (caused by something hitting it).
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE ASH CATCHER 1. Remove the lid.
a. Lift the lid away from the bowl assembly.
2. Remove the grates.
a. Remove the cooking grate from the bowl.
b. Remove the briquet holders from the bowl.
c. Remove the charcoal grate from the bowl.
3. Remove the catch pan.
a. Lift and slide the lock-lever (handle) of the ash catcher pan (counterclockwise) to disengage it from the upper ring.
b. Remove the ash catcher pan from the grill.
4. Tip the grill on its side.
a. Carefully tip the grill onto its (back) side.
b. Use a screwdriver to disengage the three locking tabs (inside the ash catcher ring) from the bowl.
c. Remove the ash catcher ring from the grill.
INSTALLING THE NEW ASH CATCHER
5. Install the ash catcher ring.
a. Position the new ash catcher ring on the bottom of the bowl, ensuring that the clean-out lever passes through the slot on the new ring.
b. Align the notches on the new ash catcher ring with the legs on the bottom of the bowl.
c. Press firmly on the new ash catcher to engage the locking tabs.
6. Install the ash catcher pan.
a. Install the new ash catcher pan onto the new ash catcher ring.
b. Verify that the handle of the new ash catcher pan engages the locking slot on the ring.
REASSEMBLING THE UNIT
7. Raise the grill.
a. Raise the grill to its upright position.
8. Reinstall the grates.
a. Install the charcoal grate.
b. Install the briquet holders.
c. Install the cooking grate.
9. Reinstall the lid.
a. Install the lid onto the bowl assembly.
