How to Replace the Blade Bushing on a DeWALT Miter Saw

The bushing is one of two flanges that secure the saw blade. The bushing is the inner flange (closest to the gearbox). The blade flanges can wear over time, which will cause the blade to wobble side-to-side. If the bushing should become worn or damaged, it will need to be replaced.

Let's get started.

REMOVING THE BUSHING   1. Unplug the saw.

a. Disconnect the saw from its power source.

  2. Remove the bushing.

a. Retract the blade guard to expose the guard adjustment screw.

b. Remove the guard adjustment screw.

c. Pivot the guard assembly toward the rear of the saw to expose the clamp bolt.

d. Remove the clamp bolt (the bolt is reverse-threaded).

e. Remove the outer clamp.

f. Remove the blade.

g. Remove the bushing.

INSTALLING THE NEW BUSHING

  3. Install the bushing.

a. Install the new bushing onto the shaft.

REASSEMBLING THE UNIT

  4. Reinstall the blade.

a. Install the blade.

b. Install the outer clamp.

c. Secure the blade assembly with the clamp bolt. (The bolt is reverse-threaded).

  5. Reposition the guard.

a. Pivot the guard assembly toward the front of the saw.

b. Secure the guard assembly with the screw.
