Removed 2-bolts from exhaust pipe, took off muffler and bracket and muffler heat guard. Valve cover, and valve head, on work bench took out retainers, caps, springs valves, push rods. Then cleaned everything.put in new valves, and replaced all parts and gaskets. Before starting project I needed to take out carburetor assembly, air filter assembly.make sure to gap valves. Need to torque bolts on head and valve cover. Clean off gasket glue stuck on heads, valve covers. Needed a tool to compress springs. I used vise grips. you need t-15 torx and 10mm wrench. Parts fit & worked great
Used gaskets, fuel filter & heat shield as part of a carburetor freshen up on a MTD Yardman with Kohler 15 HP engine. Parts fit great, did have to trim the "ears" off the heat shield with a dremel tool to make the carburetor linkage clear...but that only took a minute & the old tractor fired right up & is running great!

I'll definitely use e-replacement parts again!

Scotts L1742 had a dead carb on it. sat for years.
After years of sitting due to a bad fuel solenoid and carb, I replaced the carb assembly and studs previously removed, connected the new carb and air intake, installed choke and throttle linkages, oiled the cylinder and rotated the fly wheel by hand. Once ready, I installed a new spark plug, changed the oil and borrowed another mowers battery, I fired up the scotts L1742 that has been sitting for almost 10 years! Some chugging, some smoking and oiling all the steering points a perfectly good mower with 75 hours on it is ready for service again.. why did I let it sit for so long?!

  • USPS ZIP Code trouble.
The part was fine. The delivery took two weeks for an expedited delivery. Your data base utilizes the USPS ZIP Code directory which listed my address as incorrect. We live between two zip codes and thus do not appear in it. However, the address is correct. I was not contacted when this was discovered & had to call to determine why it hadn't been received. You try again, same situation. On the third call your representative apologized, had it sent next day air arriving in less than 24 hrs. Two weeks after the initial order.
