This maintenance was pretty straight forward. Replacing air filter and spark plug was easy. Instructions come with spark plug gap number so that you can adjust the gap yourself. Replaced fuel vent, filter and primer tubes which are easy removed and replaced. Replaced fuel filter, as it's attached to the end of a tube inside of fuel tank. You use a 4" wire and form a hook on the end of it in order to pull out the tube from inside the fuel tank. It has the fuel filter attached to it. Simple replace. I replaced the rubber primer bulb. It's attached by 4 screws to carburetor and easy to access. Just remove the screws and plate, then remove old bulb and replace with new primer bulb and reattach screws. This all took about 30 minutes. Very easy. You just need screwdriver, spark plug socket and wire cutters to cut a piece of wire with. Use a coat hanger wire or any flexible wire that you can stick inside the fuel tank.

Leaking gas from fuel tank. Tank grommet was especially worn from exposure to gas.

Removed the air filter to make getting at fuel tank grommet with ease. Pulled all hoses out from the grommet. Used needle nose pliers to get the grommet out. Greased all hoses and the grommet to make ease of replacement. The wire was used to pull the gas line out and the sculpting tool to press in the grommet.

The trimmer was hard to start and wouldn't run at idle with an old air and fuel filter.

I removed the fuel line and replaced the line and filter. Then replaced the priming bulb as a precaution to keep air from entering the fuel system. Then, the air filter cover was removed and the new air filter installed. New fuel and a new spark plug completed the repair and it runs line it should. The parts arrived before the local dealer could get the parts. I'm back to work in less time and at much less cost.

Removed fuel tank. Removed all fuel and return lines from carb and tank. Used all new fuel lines as old lines were swollen from age and would have been a real problem getting them into new fuel line grommet. As it was I needed wd40 and a small flat blade screwdriver to get new grommet back into the tank and wd40 to get lines into the grommet. Describing it makes it sound like more work than it was. Simple and straight forward.

Fuel filter was plugged. Decided to replace all lines because they were old

    Forrest - July 27, 2018
Removed all fuel , breather lines, and filters

Replace all lines with new breather and filters

Might need pliers to remove old lines

Might be easier to fit all lines thru grommet before placing in tank
