  • Replacement spring better than original part
This replacement spring is an improved version of the original. It's a little longer so it fits better and is easier to install. I had to view two YouTube videos to figure out where to hook one end of the spring. The spring itself was inexpensive, but the shipping was twice the cost of the spring and it took a week to get it.

    1. Removed the old wheels.
    2. Cleaned the rear drive gears and lubricated gears with bearing grease
    3. Removed cables from the mower handle.
    4. Slid the drive handle forward over the stops located at the bottom of the handle. This allowed removal of the engagement bar and installation of the new spring on the safety bar.
    5. The slide must be aligned with the bar during assembly when the slide is returned to the installed position.
    6. Connect the cables to their original connection points.
    7. Start the mower and check operation of drive wheels and safety shut down.

Purchased an old-but-still-in great-shape Toro recycler from a friend. It had been stored for a long period of time so it didn't want to start.it until it had some work done on it.

1-Removed and cleaned carburetor. Replaced bowl nut washer and fuel line.
2-One of the cable guides was broken. Disconnected the drive cable and slipped on the new cable guide.
3-Torsion spring was broken so I replaced that by watching a Youtube of the repair. Good thing, this repair was not intuitive and the video showed the "trick" of how to get the bar out of the handle. Still required some strength and patience, even knowing how to do it.
4-Old air filter was filthy so replaced that. I had purchased one at Walmart that looked exactly the same but didn't fit. The one from eReplacements was a genuine Toro unit and worked great. Thanks.

Starts first time after priming and runs great.
