Side Deflector

Removed bolt and replaced new parts, including a larger piece of the selector assembly ordered elsewhere. It went together well and is now functioning appropriately.

I went on line and found a similar repair and did what they did- I did easily find the part I needed on Replacement parts and got my mower going again fairly easily. At one point in the repair I had to get my wife to push in the rod while I held the spring in place but other than that I did it by myself. I was on the verge of buying a new mower- the $40 parts saved me from that. Thanks

Replaced the parts easy job.

By removing engine, wheels, handle assembly, rear chute assembly, and anything attached to the housing.

1. Suggest to take a picture of the installation noting the spring’s spring’s orientation in particular.
2. Remove the 2 bolts securing the side deflector assembly to the mower base plate.
2. The assembly consists of a u-shaped bracket, the deflector, pin and a spring.
3. Using a straight slot screwdriver and needle-nose pliers, “coax” the pin out of it’s position.
4. Referring to the picture, position the deflector and spring on the bracket and insert the pin. The spring must be “preloaded” a bit in order to push the pin home.
5. Position the deflector assembly on the mower base and secure with th 2 bolts removed in step 2.
6. Open the deflector and engage the nubs in the slots on the discharge chute, ready to mow!

followed the simple video instructions. worked like a champ.

Well ! The first time fixing this part is pretty hard.but after all take time to figure it out carefully then put it in around 10 minutes ! thanks god i did it !!!

1. used a screwdriver and a hammer to tap the retaining pin in the center of the door spring to loosen it.
2. grabbed the pin with a pair of pliers and pulled it out.
3. took the left arm of the spring out of the old door.
4. put the left arm of the spring in the hole on the new door.
5. lined the spring up with the bracket on the mower deck.
6. slid the retaining pin a 1/4 to 1/2 way into the spring.
7. grabbed the right arm of the spring and pulled it up onto the mower deck.
8. while holding the right arm of the spring on the mower deck tapped the retaining pin with a hammer till all the way in.
This was a very easy repair it literally took five minutes.
