    Installed a new deflector shield and parts needed for complete installation. Somehow I lost the push nut so I drilled the deflector rod where the nut should have went and placed a fender washer and cotter pin. Worked fine.

    Lawn tractor missing deflector shield

    Real easy. Ran the bolt through the spring and shield and tapped on the "grommet-lock to keep the bolt (and deflector shield) in place. That's why I need the hammer and small socket. To tap the locking grommet onto the bolt end.

    Removed the old deflector shield. Placed the new one on the mower, ran the retention bolt through it, and affixed a new clamp (not sure what it's called) to keep it in place.

    Deflector Shield broke

    1. I removed the old rod that held the broken Deflector Shield to the mower deck.
    2. I removed the broken Deflector Shield.
    3. I aligned the new Deflector Shield on the mower deck.
    4. I inserted the holding rod to attach the Deflector Shield to the mower deck.
    5. I attached the spring washer to the holding rod.
    6. Task completed.

    2. Removed worn and broken parts
    3. Refurbished, wire brushed and painted, deck components
    4. Replaced mandrels, pulleys, belts and brackets with new parts
    5. Reinstalled and realigned mower deck to lawn tractor

    removed the lock nut from shield shaft and removed shaft from shield and deck bracket and hold down spring, then installed in reverse order and install a new lock nut on end of shield shaft.

    I placed the attachment point on the deflector shield to the attachment point on the lawn tractor deck. I thought the deflector shield would come with the long pin that fastens the attachment points, but it does not. I had to improvise with a long slender bolt and a nut on the end to hold it in place. No big deal, but something that you may want to know if you do not have the original pin.
