Product Description ?

This is a genuine replacement part sourced directly from the original manufacturer. This assembly consists of metal parts and it is sold individually.

This is the part that houses shaft that mower blade attaches to, it is mounted to the deck of the mower by three (3) bolts (sold separately). Please note that the mounting holes on mandrel housing are not threaded. Bolts that are used to secure the mandrel to the deck are self tapping.

When doing this repair you would need a set of wrenches.

• First remove the blade from the mandrel shaft
• Remove the three (3) screws that are holding mandrel to the Deck
• Then, you will need to remove the nut that is attached to the mandrel shaft, which is located above the mandrel pulley. The complete mandrel assembly should come right out now.
• Attach the new mandrel assembly back to the deck
• Attach and secure pulleys, belts and blades

    Exactly replaced original part
As my mower was older, I was so glad to find eReplacementParts.com. I talked to customer service as well as easily finding the part on their website. I will definitely order from them again.
    Guest - June 29, 2019 Verified Purchase
    Parts were as selected.
Parts exactly matched . Only problem was the over one month wait for the first order to arrive. Second order was a lot better but still longer than if you had part on hand. Would probably order agaig from your company. Good luck on catching up after the pandemic slowdown!!!

Only replacement option for older mowers
Ive rebuilt mandrel before. The shaft and bearings are pretty decent. The housing, however, is a cheap chinese casting. It is half the thickness of the OEM. The mounting holes are not threaded for the 5/16 x 18 pitch, so they needed to tapped. The amount of metal left after tapping is not ideal for a solid thread engagement, so dont over tighten and use a thread locker. Well see how long the mandrel housing holds up. Would I buy again? I guess I dont have a choice

    Mandrel assembly

    Difficulty

    Time

    More than 2 hours

    Tools Used

Socket set, Wrench Set, hand held grinder

The old mandrel assembly was very difficult to remove as bolt were stuck in the mandrel assembly and I could not removed them. A grinder could not reach all the bolt heads because the old mandrel pulley was in the way. So, I had to grind through the metal housing of old assembly from bottom and slide out, leaving bolts and a small part of the mandrel assembly attached to mower deck. Then I had grind the bold heads off.The installation of replacement parts was very easy though. The removal of old mandrel assembly took 3 hours. The installation of new mandrel assembly took 15 minutes.
Tip: If grinding off mandrel assembly please realize the mandrel pulley is to large to fit through the hole in the mower deck and enough of of the bottom part of the mandrel assembly will have to be removed to allow the mandrel assemble to slide out from top of the mower deck.

Remove belt and pulley. Remove blade from inside the deck. Remove three screws that attach the housing to the mower deck. The shaft and bearings were still ok, but I replaced them with new anyway, was the best thing to do. The three screws are self threading, one of which was hard to get started, but after awhile with pressure and turning at the same time it tightened up. all-in-all it went pretty easy. I wasn't so fortunate on my next project with putting tubes in my tires.
