    push rods bent - engine dead

    opened valve cover of engine, removed valves/springs, replaced both push rods and guides, replaced valves, reset gaps.

    Loss of power and misfire/backfire

    Remove valve cover, remove rocker arms, lash caps and push rods, remove rocker arm studs and push rod guide plate. Install new guide plate then reinstall rocker arm studs, install new push rods (aluminum one is for the intake valve) making sure push rods are seated in lifters, reinstall lash caps and rocker arms along with the rocker arm adjusting nuts and lock nuts. Adjust valve lash and properly lock down adjusting nuts (adjusting nut and lock nut must be turned at same time to properly lock),recheck valve lash and readjust if necessary. Install valve cover.

    Piston rod came loose broke a few things inside motor

    Value guide broke and bent push rod.

    Removed the cover. Remove the bolts. Removed the guides. Replaced the guide. Replaced the push rod. Adjusted and reassembled. Tested, runs great!

    Intake push rod broke, because set screw backed off, and push rod guide broke as well.

    Socket set, Wrench Set, Allen wrench, feeler gauge set,spark plug socket.

    1. Removed valve cover, removed rocker arms and their studs.
    2. Put piston at top dead center, on the stroke where cam was not lifting push rods.
    3. Reassembled push rod guides and rocker arms and set intake clearance to .005 thousands and exhaust to .007 thousands.
    4. rotated engine by hand a couple of times to make sure clearances stayed adjusted.
    5.Put spark plug back in.
    6. Put new valve cover gasket on and tightened bolts on valve cover.
    7. Started motor and checked for leaks and listened for noise from rocker arm assembly, very quiet running and put back to work.

    Broken push rod

    Removed valve cover and broken push rod. Drained oil and used magnet to collect metal fragments, if any.
    Installed new rod guide and push rods.(Adjusted push arm gaps accordingly to manufactures settings)
    Replaced valve cover gasket and installed same.
    Added new oil and test started engine.
    Job complete.
