    5. Removed the fuel tank, found the restrictor/filter corroded and plugged. Disassembled the restrictor, used safety wire to clear the passageway cleaned everything reassembled. Unit ran fine. ( There was no mention of this problem in the comments )
    6. Adjusted the idle a little. Amazing!
    7. The parts were not needed but, I left them on anyway.

It was time to perform a major tune-up on my 4-cycle trimmer. This included replacing the air filter and spark plug. Also, an oil change and gap check and inspection on the valve rockers.
The gas cap had leaked from the filtered-vent. Previous cleanings failed to correct this issue. the only remedy is to replace the fuel cap.

Remove outer covers. Remove gas tank screws being careful not to lose the spacers remove 2 fuel lines ( note which line goes where }. I had ordered the gas tank and also the gas line and filter, but did not need the line and filter because the tank comes with the line installed, filter and cap. Install gas lines to original locations. Reinstall gas tank making sure spacers are between tank and motor The spark plug is only visible after removing the heat shield which is also under the cover, remove plug check gap on new plug .025 and install. Install all covers.
Filled with gas pumped bulb 4X set choke pulled 2X started and ran like new

Removed air filter housing, carburetor and fuel lines. I took the fuel tank off to clean dirt/debris off it. It was easier too, to replace fuel line and fuel return in tank. Carb, gasket, and spark plug were simply a take off and replace. Trimmer started on 3rd or 4th pull as the choke lever is hard to get used to. If you pump the primer like 8x, it will start cold. No carb adjustment needed. Apparently the O-ring on the oil dipstick was bad. I replaced both since cost was low.
