This is an OEM part which is specially made for Ryobi handheld lawn and garden equipment. The check valve connects between the breather hose allowing air into the engine. Over time it may wear out or get damaged eventually requiring a replacement. One durable plastic check valve is included. You may need a screwdriver to perform this repair. I removed the outer covers ,proceeded to locate the breather tubes and the check valves. Cleaned everything with carb cleaner. After everything dried I reversed the procedure & reassembled the trimmer.

Replaced fuel check valve

Parts Used
1. Remove outer plastic housing.
2. Pull fuel hose from gas tank off valve.
3. Pull old valve off.
4. Insert new check valve into hose connected to engine with the POINTED end of the check valve toward the engine.
5. Reconnect line from fuel tank to FLAT side of check valve.
6. Secure plastic housing.... FINISHED!!

4 cycle trimmer would start, but bog down on full throttle- leaked oil also

Removed air filter housing, carburetor and fuel lines. I took the fuel tank off to clean dirt/debris off it. It was easier too, to replace fuel line and fuel return in tank. Carb, gasket, and spark plug were simply a take off and replace. Trimmer started on 3rd or 4th pull as the choke lever is hard to get used to. If you pump the primer like 8x, it will start cold. No carb adjustment needed. Apparently the O-ring on the oil dipstick was bad. I replaced both since cost was low.

I put the new parts on and crossed my fingers and after 6 pulls on the cord it started. Simple fix with the right parts.

Installed new breather fitting with check valve.
Engine is still questionable after new fuel tank, breather & check valve, and new fuel lines. Will start and run on full throttle, but will not throttle down and idle. Guess it is time to bid this POS good by as it is not worth further repair. Its on local website as "free" for any one that wants to use it for parts.
