This plunger and gear assembly functions as an oil pump that helps to lubricate the chain.     Removed chain and bar . Cleaned the bar channels and bar oiler ports. Removed side cover to access the clutch mechanism. Removed spark plug fed a pull cord sized rope into spark plug hole. Removed clutch mechanism reversed thread .
    Removed washer and 2 screws on oil pump and removed. Replaced pump and reassembled.

    Remove the bar and chain. Unscrew the clutch assembly to expose the oiler mechanism. Unscrew the gear and plunger unit and remove. Replace with the new one.

    1. Removed housing
    2. Used clutch tool to remove clutch
    3. Replaced oil pump, 2 screws simple
    4. Replaced housing, new chain break worn out, part of housing
    5. Started up , everything fine

    Lost oil feed to the chain with the chain heating up and dragging down the cutting speed.

    Screwdriver, Multi-tool that came with the chainsaw

    1. Removed chain, blade and spark plug.
    2. Placed end of 8” electrical cord into plug hole to stop piston.
    3. Used 16 oz hammer and large punch to drive clutch assembly clock wise until loose and spun off with fingers.
    4. Remove clutch drum and large flat watcher to expose the chain oiler pump.
    5. Used # 2 Philips head screwdriver to remove the 2 screws holding the oil pump on and remove the old oil pump.
    6. Clean up the oil pump area and install the new pump.
    7. Re-Install all parts in reverse order.

    No bar oiling

    Removed clutch.
    Removed oil pump
    Installed new drive gear, one-piece oil pickup pipe, and new oil pump.
    Reassembled and tested. OK.

    FYI. The old pickup pipe was two pieces which I ordered one of each. They both superseded to the single piece pickup pipe. The order did not reflect this and now I have an extra. Anyone need a new-style single piece pickup pipe?

    Oil pump housing was worn thru from sprocket rubbing on it

    Remove bar n chain - remove clutch and sprocket - used spanner wrench to loosen clutch after feeding rope into cylinder to lock piston movement - remove two screws and rubber gasket holding pump assy - reinstalled in reverse manner - make sure there is a washer between sprocket and oil pump - that's how mine got worn. I got the saw for free and wasn't aware of the washer missing
