    1. I first disassembled the air cleaner from the machine and gave it a cleaning.
    2. Removed the carb and throttle connection.
    3. Removed fuel lines and fuel tank.
    4. Installed new fuel lines. Couldn't thread the new line thru hole in the tank since it was on opposite end of tank fill. So, I cut the line in the tank with the fuel filter and used a splice in the tank. Worked well.
    5. Went ahead and bought a new carb for $12.99 and installed.
Hooked new lines to carb and new primer bulb.
    6. Installed new air filter and put it all back together.
    7. Works great, after slight adjustment of the idle screw.
    8. No more ethanol fuel for me.

I took out all of the screws from the handle where the trigger is located. I made sure how the spring and trigger were placed in the handle. I removed the broken trigger and took out the cable. I took the new trigger, put the cable in it and put it and the spring in the handle. And put the handle together. I used some soapy water to slide on the grip. I took out the screws that hold the filter cover and took out the old filter and put in the new one. Then put the cover back on.

    1. Removed old fuel lines, filter, primer bulb. Lines and bulb cracked apart due to age.
    2. Replaced fuel lines, filter and primer bulb with new parts. I had to remove the preassembled fuel filter from the fuel line so I could feed the new fuel line into the tank from the outside. Once the line reached the opening for gas I reattached the fuel filter to the line. I have no idea how the fuel line can be fed through the fuel line hole at the top of the tank from the inside of the tank on my Ryobi 990r trimmer.
    3. Removed old spark plug and replaced with a new one.
    4. Removed carburetor, took it apart and cleaned it with carburetor cleaner, replaced all carburetor gaskets with new gaskets. Take pictures as carburetor is disassembled to make gasket placement and reassembly easier when you put it back. Also note the hole that the throttle cable is attached to on the throttle link to before you take it off the throttle link.
    5. Reassembled outer plastic covers on trimmer with new air filter.
    6. Engine starts right up now.

Took back cover off by removing 4 star head screws. Aligned choke actuator with cover to remove completely. Cut angle on lines to make it easier to get thru the holes in the tank per the video on website. Had to use angled screw driver to install filter. Plugged in lines and installed new air cleaner. Started and ran like a champ.
