Product Description ?

This is an OEM replacement part sourced directly from the original manufacturer. This Mandrel Housing is made out of Metal and it is Sold Individually.

This is the part that Houses Shaft that mower blade attaches to, it is mounted to the deck of the mower by Three (3) Bolts (Sold Separately). Please note that the mounting holes on Mandrel Housing are not threaded. Bolts that are used to secure the Mandrel to the deck are self tapping.

When doing this repair you would need a set of Wrenches.

    Exactly what I needed.
Part came quickly and was exactly what I needed. I was able to find the part for an older lawn mower, it was reasonably priced and I was able to fix my mower and get back to maintaining my lawn.

    Exactly as ordered worked great
Fit perfectly. only issue is how they ship. ship via Fed Ex Ground and Fed Ex drops of at a Post Office for final delivery. Takes an extra 5 days for Post Office to deliver from 30 miles away. Would be better to have shipped directly through the Post Office.

    Perfect replacement parts.
The only thing you may want to look at is when a customer is purchasing the bearings with the spindle is to have it pre installed.

I removed the blade bolt and washer from the spindle and removed the blade. I then remove the deck from the mower. Remove the nut from the mandrel pulley and remove the pulley. I then remove the three bolts holding the mandrel to the deck, and the mandrel came right off. I used a brass rod to punch the spindle from the mandrel from the top. Then I used a block of wood and tapped the spindle into the new housing. I used the same block of wood to tap in the top bearing. I then placed the the new housing up to the deck and used the same screws to mount the mandrel. The mandrel is not threaded, but the screws are self tapping. I placed the pulley on the spindle and then tightened the nut down on the pulley. I installed the blade and then attached the deck to the mower.

Re-drilled mounting holes to accept a 3/8" bolts. Bolt head fit in casting as designed. The through hole can be tapped, but drilling a clear hole to fit the 3/8" make the repair quicker. Then mount the mandrel with washer, lock washer, nut on the top side.

    Put the parking break on.
    Lifted the mower.
    Lowered the deck.
    Removed the idler pulley.
Pulled the mandrel and the blade.
    Removed blade.
(Sharpened blade while it was off)
Then replaced everything in reverse order.

(Be sure to check both housings if you have more than one blade. I only ordered one to replace the one that was DESTROYED. Once I got under the deck I realized the other one was cracked as well. It just hadn't completely failed yet. Had to wait another week to get the 2nd one in before the tractor was fully operational again.)
