    Removed cylinder housing, then removed piston
    Replaced piston cap (vinyl) and all O-rings; applied thin veneer of machine oil to ensure good seal, carefully re-threaded plunger shaft, spring, and piston, then tightened housing bolts

    Piston not returning. Air leaking from top of cylinder.

    When head was removed I found broken plastic parts. Ultimately I ended up replacing O rings, all cylinder head valve plastic parts and the piston ring (although that was probably not really necessary). Biggest problem was the poor quality of the Porter Cable exploded parts diagram and the difficulty in identifying which parts to order. The FN250B is now back together and works perfectly.

    1. Remove the four bolts in the top of the head unit.
    2. Replace the parts inside in the same order they came out.
    3. Replace top cap.

    Air leak in piston compression/stop head assembly

    1. Removed hex bolts from head
    2. Dissembled piston stop and compression assembly
    3. Laid all components in order on work bench
    4. Utilized individual parts breakdown diagram to validate component assembly
    5. Removed and replaced damaged and worn parts
    6. Re-assembled components in correct order
    7. Installed head hex bolts
    8. Oiled and tested tool
    9. No air leaks
    10. Tool is back in service
