Product Description ?

This is an OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. Sold individually. This no grease mandrel assembly includes housing, shaft assembly, bearing, and nut only - pulley/washer and blade bolt/washers are not included.

This is the part the mower blade attaches to, it is mounted to the deck of the mower by four bolts.

Spacer must be installed under the pulley.
Installing with the spacer on top of the pulley (or failing to use spacer) will result in damage to shaft and pulley.

The mounting holes on the Mandrel are not threaded. But the bolts that are used to secure the mandrel to the deck are self tapping. The Mandrel shaft goes thru the deck and the pulleys are attached to them, then the belt that drives the mandrels is placed in the pulleys.

I am a single mom to three kids and I had a riding mower that broke a piece. I called and tried to explain to the gentleman on the other end on a sunday mind you what the problem was. He knew exactly what I needed and was so patient with me and made me feel like I wasn't a clueless woman lol I had a great experience and will definitely order my mower parts from this company.

    CRAFSTMAN RIDING MOWER
An elderly couple have a riding lawnmower that made an awful noise when the mower blade was engaged. I noticed the pulley had elongated the center hole. The mandrel assembly was also damaged. When I looked on line I went to eReplacement Parts. I have ordered from this site in the past. I can honesty say they did not disappoint. The parts arrived in a short amount of time. I was able to get the new parts installed today. everything went together like clockwork. Could not be happier with the results. The parts are quality and all the holes lined up perfectly.

The original mandrel assembly cracked badly around the screws that hold it to the deck, and the brake arm was bent and no longer contacting the pulley

Once the mower deck was removed the repair was simple. Remove nut on top of mandrel holding the pulley wheel in place and remove wheel. Remove screws holding the old mandrel assembly to the deck, make note of where the belt guides are, and remove old mandrel (blade still attached and must remove by pulling the mandrel down through the deck). Remove nut holding blade on and remove blade. Take the mandrel screws and use them to cut threads into the screw holes of the new mandrel (the holes in the new mandrel are not pre-threaded). Put new mandrel in place, replace belt guides in their proper positions, line up the holes and replace the screws and tighten firmly. The brake pad is self explanatory: remove nut and take off old brake, put new brake on and replace nut.

Set lawn tractor front wheels up on ramps. Blocked rear wheels.
Set mower deck to lowest setting.
Used wood block to secure mower blade and removed top nut on mandrel housing.
Set mower deck to highest setting.
Removed bolt below mower blade. Removed mower blade.
Set mower deck to lowest setting for clearance to tap out old mandrel.
Used hammer and block of wood to tap out old mandrel. After old mandrel is free, set mower deck to highest setting (must have about 6" clearance below mower deck) to completely remove old mandrel.
Install new mandrel into mandrel housing from below mower deck by gently tapping block of wood held against star gear. After bearing seated, reinstall top nut on mandrel and reinstall mower blade making sure blade fully engaged with star gear on mandrel.

Thanks for sending the mandrel quickly so I could get back to mowing my lawn.

I hit my water meter and bent the deck a little. I was able to straighten the deck and when I turned the blades back on, the left pulley started smoking and it felt like the deck was vibrating apart.

I removed my deck, found that the left blades was a little harder to turn and made a roaring noise when spinning it. I removed the top pulley and then the blade. Next I removed the spindle ( mandrel ). The fall bearings had came out of the top bearing. Also the bottom bearing was bad as well. I ordered my spindle or mandrel from eReplacementparts.com and when it came in I replaced it and my blades...which it is a good time to do since the deck was already off. Reinstalled the deck and was back in business.
    Thank you eReplacementparts.com

This was on my 46 inch cut Husqvarna riding mower.
Make sure to remove spark plug wire before starting any work on or near the blades.

The mandrel broke in two places, and also the deck ripped out at the mandrel mounting position bolt holes. Removing the blade and mandrel was fairly easy since I have done this previously. This model of Husqvarna allows for very easy removal of deck assembly from mower. What took the bulk of time was taking deck to welder to make repairs to the damaged mounting holes on deck. He used metal washers then scraped and painted to match original deck. Once I picked up deck re-attaching every thing else was done within 20-25 minutes. Mower now sounds quiet and runs & cuts maybe better now then when it was new. So the lesson here is when an unusual noise starts don't hesitate investigating before continuing to operate mower.

I removed the deck completely from the craftsman lawn tractor. Removed all damaged parts from the mower deck with the necessary tools making sure to take a cell phone picture prior to disassembly. FYI, I did not realize the mandrel assembly was not threaded at the 4 points where you attach the mandrel to the deck with the washer head screws. Don't panic though, because the washer head screws self-thread into the mandrel assembly making for a very firm attachment. This project was a little more time consuming because the old mandrel assembly had sheared off at 3 points and the broken pieces under the washer head screws were troublesome to remove. Liquid wrench helped with the removal though. FYI, make sure you don't forget to put the spacer on top of the mandrel before you attach the pulley to the top of the mandrel. All new parts went together very nicely on re-assembly. I re-attached the deck to the Lawn tractor. I started the mower and it worked flawlessly.
