I removed the deck completely from the craftsman lawn tractor. Removed all damaged parts from the mower deck with the necessary tools making sure to take a cell phone picture prior to disassembly. FYI, I did not realize the mandrel assembly was not threaded at the 4 points where you attach the mandrel to the deck with the washer head screws. Don't panic though, because the washer head screws self-thread into the mandrel assembly making for a very firm attachment. This project was a little more time consuming because the old mandrel assembly had sheared off at 3 points and the broken pieces under the washer head screws were troublesome to remove. Liquid wrench helped with the removal though. FYI, make sure you don't forget to put the spacer on top of the mandrel before you attach the pulley to the top of the mandrel. All new parts went together very nicely on re-assembly. I re-attached the deck to the Lawn tractor. I started the mower and it worked flawlessly.

I Removed the deck (10 minutes) impact the nut off the mandrel & took the pulley off replaced with new one put deck back on. All total about 35 minutes

Removed old mandrels and installed new ones. It took care of the problem. Since the bolts are self tapping care must be taken to make sure they are holding mandrel snug against the mower deck, they can seem tight while not holding the mandrel tight.

Mower deck pulley for blade stripped out

1. Braced blade, removed belt from pulley then removed pulley. Had removed plastic spindle cover in past already. See #4.
2. If spline on blade spindle had been ok, it would have been as simple as putting new pulley back on, tighten bolt and put belt back on.
3. Had to replace spindle, which already had a new one, before putting new pulley back on. Added another 15-30 minutes.
4. Bad spindle cog/bearing design lets pulley strip out quicker then should. This is 2nd pulley/spindle replacement on mower deck (both sides). Have removed plastic spindle covers in the past as debris stays trapped on/around spindle causing pre-mature failure. Makes clean-up easier.

Removed mower deck and replaced the 2 mandrels I received earlier from you. Then replaced the 2 mandrel pulleys and reinstalled the mower deck. Mower now cuts like new.

had to cutoff both spindles to remove as a pair. Changed everything , mandrels pulleys and hardware. Now she runs like a new mower. The reason I had to cutoff mandrels is pulleys on top of mandrels were seized on.
